Constructing the Planting Troughs

Planting Troughs

Rob and the planting troughs for our RHS display at HamptonCourt

Whoohoo the first construction stage is coming together now, Rob has spent two days with the power tools and the plant troughs are really taking shape now. These troughs will be used both in the Plants4Presents display to give height to the back of the wildflower meadow and in the GYO stand to display the climbing plants. They don’t need to last forever but as they are a bit of an investment we’ve designed them to last a couple of seasons. The willow support structures will be planted up next month and the farmers citrus and climbing spinach will be planted up not long after so drainage is important. They are designed to stack when not in use and crucially for the water to drain out and away easily whilst they are being grown at the nursery. To help them blend in to the background of both displays,Phil has been adding the finishing touches with a ‘forest green’ wood stain… and this is just the plant holders – what about the plants?
